-Anchorage-

Anchorage is the largest city in the state of Alaska, with 275,043 residents, comprising more than 50% of the state's total population. We had a small hiccup upon our arrival. We pulled into our hotel slightly noticing that is probably wasn't the best neighborhood. We start walking to the entrance and a guy obviously mentally unstable and/or high on something drove by on his bicycle screaming at us. We then rush to the lobby, trying to watch the car and wait for someone to arrive at the front desk we start noticing signs posted all over the lobby that give us the impression that some not so innocent things go down in the rooms, the employees doing things they shouldn't, etc. We wait about 15 minutes at the front desk, no one around anywhere, we take that as our cue to leave. We drove to the airport area and took the last room in a very nice normal hotel and had a great night's sleep. :-)

We woke up and headed to a local Saturday market (very similar to Art in the Park for the Boise readers), shopped a bit, people watched a bit and ate some interesting cuisine. We then took a walk along the coast and through downtown.  After seeing most of what Anchorage has to offer we started our drive to Whittier to get on the ship...

This guy is 85% of the reason we decided on a new hotel...low and behold we saw him again the next day in downtown Anchorage...just had to grab a pic!

Mmmmm...reindeer dog....

Anchorage has a beautiful backdrop!

View from coastal walking path...very pretty!

Wheeeee.....

Our replacement hotel was much better, no creepy guy and a full wall mirror....HAWT! ;-)
