-Copenhagen-

This is how our first day of vacation started.

Go to work: 9:00am CDT

Find out there was a massive earthquake in Iceland where we are landing (and visiting), crap your pants: 3:00pm CDT

Leave work for airport: 4:30pm CDT

Uneventful (I mean 100% no events, movies were $10!)six hour flight on Iceland Air to Iceland, arrive in Iceland (whew, no earthquake damage visible):

Uneventful flight to Copenhagen, arrive at Copenhagen: 6:00am CDT

Grab our bags and head to the train station within the airport. Fumble around for 30 minutes trying to figure out what train to take and where.

Ride train with another couple from the ship, wipe sweat from brow, we must be doing something right.

Walk 1/2 to ship with luggage through the streets of Copenhagen (this is why I now pack light, we walked a mile in London with luggage, I learned).

Drop luggage off at ship, head back to train station to see what we can of Copenhagen before our 7:00pm departure.

I had only one 'must see' in Copenhagen and that was Nyhavn. We made it there and got to see lots of the city on the way. Vinny and I both really enjoyed Copenhagen, he is already thinking about moving there! It is a very progressive city, more bicycles than cars (at least it felt that way), women and men holding hands in public without the stares of others, just a wonderful city.

We made it back to the ship in time for a nap and then Movies Under the Stars, our favorite 'cruise' entertainment. We had a sea day the following day and we slept the entire day :)

Copenhagen was also our last stop, we took a Princess tour on this day, in order to get a ride to the airport with our luggage for a good price. Our guide was great, the other people on our tour were quick and efficient, we made it to the airport on time!

Flying over Greenland, coolest.thing.ever!

Almost there!

St Frederick's Church

Quite possibly my favoritest picture from Copenhagen!

Nyhavn

Nyhavn was built by King Christian V in the 1670s, and is thus the oldest part of Copenhagen harbor. It once had a bad reputation on account of the concentration of sailors living in the neighborhood. The north side, where the bars are, is still known as "the naughty side".

I couldn't get enough of this place, I love the bright colors!

Lost already?

Cute bicycle in Nyhavn

Copenhagen is known as one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world, with up to 32% of people commuting to work by bicycle!

Cap Horn!!!

Can you spot the American in this picture?

Never seen so many bicycles!

Back on the ship! Our anniversary balloons, CHEESE! ;)

Watching a movie under the stars!

The giant screen. This is one of our favorite things to do on the ship for sure!

Little Mermaid's author, Hans Christian Andersen is from Copenhagen.

Nice yacht eh? Helicopter and everything!

Amalienborg Palace

Amalienborg Palace is the winter home of the Danish Royal Family. It consists of four identical palaces octagonal courtyard; in the center of the square is a monumental equestrian statue of Amalienborg's founder, King Frederik V.

Amalienborg Palace

One of the palaces. This one is used for government visitors.

Toy Soldier at Amalienborg Palace (I bet they love that name I give them!)

Gefion Springvandet

The myth goes that Gefion was told by the King of Sweden that she could have all the land she could plow in a night. She turned her sons into bulls and plowed all the land that is now the island of Sealand where Copenhagen is. Oddly enough, if you look at a map of southern Sweden there is a lake roughly the size and shape of Sealand.

Don't judge a book by its cover, I was expecting a dull interior....

The Church of Our Lady is the cathedral of Copenhagen and the National Cathedral of Denmark.

The interior is decorated with the twelve apostles, Jesus and an angel, all in Italian marble.

So modern and elegant, I loved it.

Look at that hot tourist! woo-woo!

tivoli garden - the gardens were amazing! Lucky for the viewers, my camera battery died at this point ;)

This is what every tourist attraction we went to looked like. Swarm of people that are oblivious to the world. Grr.

Vinny drinking a Carlsberg beer with a Carlsberg hat on. Boston themed restaraunt in Copenhagen airport.

1 USD = 23.4768342 DKK. Spendy Cheeseburger and beer. WOW. It was pretty good. Not $70 good.
